About Project Griff
Meet project GRIFF: the 100% solar powered electric vehicle and educational tour. Griff is the project built by Awaken Solar to show as many people as possible the benefits of solar & EV’s. We will be taking this electric box truck, weighing in at over 8 tons, across America for all of 2020. Along the way we hope to share the potential for home and business owners to experience savings and true energy-independence by investing in solar and possibly an EV.
Joshua “Sunshine” Hill has built Griff out of an old EV made by Smith Electric Vehicles (now out of business). He added solar panels to it, enough so that ALL of the fuel needed to charge each day could be harvested from the sun.
Griff has unlimited mileage as it can charge every day with NO outside fuel source needed.

I love teaching others about solar power, alternative energy, and the policies surrounding both.
My life goal is to help more than one million American homes and businesses go solar—on their terms, in the right way.
That being said, I also recognize that every customer has different needs when going solar. Based on your location and setup, it doesn’t always make sense.
My first step is always to run the numbers with you and see if solar can save you green, in the form of YOUR money. I know I’m doing a good job if I can help you figure out whether investing renewables is right for you.
